Professor Urquhart Garrick
At one time, a Professor at a university once attended by Findo Gask. An expert in security and protective magic. He is believed to have lived secretly in the surface world for the last century or so.
Garrick is very intelligent and well-spoken, and has numerous interests in both magic and science.

Most of the characters in the novels are based on place names in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland, many of them close to the tiny village of Findo Gask.
Urquhart Castle sits beside Loch Ness in Scotland along the A82 road, between Fort William and Inverness. It is close to the village of Drumnadrochit.
Though extensively ruined, it was in its day one of the largest strongholds of medieval Scotland, and remains an impressive structure, splendidly situated on a headland overlooking Loch Ness.
It is also near this castle that the majority of Nessie (Loch Ness Monster) sightings occur.
Garrick is a settlement in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
